FaithWeaver® Sunday School Curriculum for All Ages
Make Faith an Everyday Conversation With FaithWeaver Bible Lessons
How is FaithWeaver® a Christian growth system?
FaithWeaver is more than a Sunday school curriculum, a children’s church program, a kids' outreach program, and a set of other resources. It’s a coordinated system in which family members learn about the Bible and apply it to their lives through classes at church and interaction at home. It’s a system that incorporates learning about the Bible, applying the Bible, worshipping God, building Christian relationships, and serving God in our lives–all through multiple elements that work together to encourage families’ Christian growth.

How does FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum fit together?
FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum is part of the FaithWeaver Christian growth system. This system is composed of three major elements and other supporting materials. The major elements are FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum, KidsOwn Worship®, and FaithWeaver Friends . Supporting materials include HomeConnect® resources for families and PastorConnect® resources for pastors. Any one of these elements can be used without the others; however, using all of the resources together reinforces the lessons and allows families to learn and grow in faith beyond what they could by using just a single elements.
How does FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum make the same passage of Scripture relevant to all ages from infants to adults?
Obviously a two-year-old can’t learn or experience the same thing from a Bible story that a fourth-grader can. And a fourth-grader can’t grasp the same ideas that an adult can. However, every Bible story has principles that can be covered and understood at different levels by students of different ages. For example, consider the story of the prodigal son. Infants and toddlers might simply hear that God loves them. Third- and fourth-graders might explore the joy we can experience in realizing how freely God forgives us. And adults might grapple with how difficult it can be to forgive others, as seen through the example of the older brother in the story.
The common element among all the levels is God’s Word, and as families discuss the applications made within their classes, they’ll see just how amazingly relevant the Bible can be to students of all ages. Because each age level approaches the Bible stories in different ways, children won’t be bored when a story is covered again in a new class three years later. Instead, the new look at the story will help cement both the old and the new learning in students’ minds.

- FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum. Designed for use in Sunday school, this portion of the system concentrates on Bible learning and application. Infants through adults cover the same Bible story, learning about it and applying it at an appropriate level for each age group.
- KidsOwn Worship: FaithWeaver Children’s Church. This program is geared toward both preschool and elementary children, with options for joint and separate activities for each group. This element focuses on learning about worship through exploring attributes of God that make God worthy of our praise, and practicing worshipping together, while connecting with the topic covered in FaithWeaver Bible Curriculum each week.
- FaithWeaver Friends. This fun, easy-to-do outreach program helps kids grow in faith, in actions, and in outreach. Use Friends during the week or anytime you want to use friendships to help kids grow in faith.
- FaithWeaver HomeConnect. Three significant resources help weave faith into life at home: the FaithWeaver Adult Bible Curriculum, "Driving Home the Point" weekly pages, and HomeConnect Internet updates. Within the adult curriculum, a segment written especially for parents and caregivers gives them ways to continue the faith development of their children at home. The "Driving Home the Point" weekly pages contain some of the same material, plus extra activities and suggestions to keep family members growing in faith together after they leave the church building. And the HomeConnect Internet updates provide links to Web sites that families can explore together to further reinforce the week's Bible Point.
- FaithWeaver PastorConnect.FaithWeaver PastorConnect: Children's Messages & More helps Christian Education leaders and pastors share a common vision for Christian education. Innovative ideas help pastors connect worship services with what's going on in Sunday school, children's church, and midweek. This quarterly resource includes 13 children's messages, unity-building activities, and a handy Scope & Sequence chart for easy planning.
Starting with Fall 2006, the FaithWeaver Children's Messages will change to an online resource, with a children's message available for each week. Use these messages to open your children's ministry, or in your worship setting to help your entire church connect.

How were the Bible passages chosen?
We wanted to balance the learning between Old and New Testaments, and we chose the following systematic way to do that:
- New Testament. Because churches like to zero in on Jesus’ birth at Christmastime and his death and resurrection at Easter, we decided to build our winter and spring quarters around those events plus the other material in the New Testament. Each year during winter and spring quarters, the lessons walk through one of the synoptic Gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) and draw additional material from John. December focuses on events leading up to and including Jesus’ birth. After that, through the rest of the winter and early spring, the lessons take students through Jesus’ life and ministry, leading up to Easter. After Easter and through the rest of the spring quarter, the curriculum focuses on events and teachings of the early church.
- Old Testament. To effectively help students understand the Old Testament as a whole, students will walk through it chronologically during the summer and fall quarters. Every three years, students will cover the entire Old Testament, beginning with Genesis in the first fall quarter, and ending with some of the minor prophets in the final summer quarter. In the process, students will be able to connect all the Bible stories into one complete story–the story of God’s working among and through imperfect people.
